  • Walsall College - Open Day

    Walsall College will be hosting an Open Day on Tuesday 22nd March where you can learn more about the great opportunities available to you!

     

    Whether you’re a school leaver or an adult learner (19+) looking to up-skill or learn a new hobby, come down to one of our campuses between 4pm – 7pm and see what we can offer!

     

    For adult learners it will be a great chance to learn more about the courses and projects we have available that could help you improve your CV, enhance your levels of maths and English, find employment, improve your basic IT skills or try a brand new hobby or skill!

     

    You will be able to take a tour of our facilities and have the chance to speak to tutors and ask them any questions you may have about studying at Walsall College. All of our Campuses will be open including Wisemore, Green Lane, Hawbush and our Digital Engineering Skills Centre which is home to our brand new Light Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel workshop.

     

    We have a range of qualifications including full-time, part-time, professional and higher education as well as a dynamic learning environment with excellent facilities and partnerships with leading employers.

     

    You will also have the chance to find out what Apprenticeship vacancies we have available, as well as learning more about our exceptional range of industry-led qualifications, including vocational courses at all levels, including T Levels.

    Our short online courses can be done at home, around your own schedule and you will have a support tutor with you the whole time should you have any questions.

    Walsall Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF)

     

    Walsall are running a programme for children ages 5 – 16 years who are entitled to benefit related free schools meals or on a plan over the  Easter Holiday. This programme is aiming to provide healthy food and enriching activities during the holidays to children who receive benefits-related free school meals (15,000 children in Walsall). It offers valuable support to families on lower incomes, giving them the opportunity to access rewarding and active activities alongside healthy meals during the school holidays. Funded by the Department of education (DFE)

     

    When do the Easter activities start?  The activities will take place over the Easter holidays and will be available from Monday 11 April to Thursday 14 April 2022 and then from Tuesday 19 - Friday 22 April 2022

     

    What will be on offer?   There are a wide range of opportunities for children and young people to engage in the Easter offer, with the option to choose from the following;

     

    ·One week of holiday club providing a range of activities throughout the day for children to engage for at least four hours for four days for one week per child with a healthy meal included.

    ·Or four pick and mix sessions offer targeted at young people to provide them with a choice of activities they can engage with, this will also provide opportunities to provide children with specific skills. These could be courses in, for example, dance, music, swimming, sports coaching, youth work training, fishing, mentoring

    How do families register ?

     

    Each eligible child will receive a letter in the post with their unique code Please note families will only need to register once for the 2022 programme)

     

    1.    A letter will be sent out to eligible children on the 7th March 2022 with their unique code.

  • Higher Apprenticeships Vacancies

    In National Apprenticeship Week 2022 we are so pleased to share the new Higher Apprenticeship level 4 vacancies in Town Planning with Chichester College as our specialist training provider.
     
     
    We have been asked to promote these vacancies across the wider community and through our social channels.
     
    The vacancies are also open to graduates with a degree in another subject. Start date may say April but they have said they would welcome applicants from school sixth form leavers as other opportunities may be available in the future.
     
    They are very pleased to encourage local applicants however with the,ir new remote working UK wide applicants are also welcome.
